The Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport stands for to promote stainable development of maritime transportation sector and modernization of Somali ports and improves socio-economic condition of the country and to ensure maritime safety and protection of marine environment.
And to create and build business environment for blue ocean economic development within Somalia maritime domain by establishing policies and regulations in maritime and port sectors, ensuring and responding the safety and security in maritime transport system, protecting marine environment, developing and maintaining aids to navigation and oversee the regulatory agencies of the ministry, and the ministry has ten departments and two agencies:
- Somali port authority agency
- Somali shipping line agency
